French 2017 sales rise nearly 5% but diesel share falls below 50%

European sales expected to edge upward in 2018 despite Brexit hit
Most EU countries are expected to see slightly higher new-car demand in 2018, as rising employment, wage increases and greater consumer confidence support vehicle purchases. Analysts forecast growth between 0.5 percent and 1.3 percent.
