Toyota, GM sales rise behind trucks; Ford, FCA slip
Toyota and GM rode strong truck demand to higher U.S. sales last month. Volume fell at Ford and FCA. Analysts expect overall light-vehicle demand to dip though GM today predicted the January SAAR will come in at 17.

France sales increase nearly 3% in January
New-car registrations in France rose 2.5 percent in January, with sales helped by strong gains at Peugeot, Mercedes, Hyundai and Skoda. Sales increased to 156,151, industry group CCFA reported. French automakers' sales rose by 12 percent.

Brexit blamed for 10% dip in 2017 Ireland sales
The sharp decline in Ireland's 2017 new car sales, which fell an EU-worst 10 percent to 131,335 units, was due to a number of Brexit-related factors, experts said, adding that the trend is expected to continue.

Ford, snapping a four-month streak of gains, posted a 6.5 percent decline in U.S. sales in January behind a 23 percent decline in car volume and a 12 percent drop in fleet shipments.
